About the artist -- Mark Hicks is Cherokee/Irish. After
traveling for over 10 years across the USA and parts of Canada performing at Native gatherings, Mark moved from his home in
Cherokee North Carolina to Albuquerque New Mexico in 1998 where he worked for Sound of America Records (S.O.A.R.), the largest
Native American record company in the country.
Mark returned to Cherokee in 2005. At the request of the tribal parks department
his music is featured on the Oconaluftee Island Park's "Talking Trees" information posts, located at several
points within the island park.
